The Ramayana

The Colouring and Craft Activity Book

An activity book introducing children aged 3–6 to the Ramayana through colouring, crafts, and the Ayodhya Rama Game.

Overview

Children aged three to six encounter the Ramayana long before they can read it. What they need is a way in — something that lets them handle the story through activities that match their actual cognitive and physical development.

Dr. Rao GS designed this activity book as the first in a two-volume series. This volume, for younger children, introduces the Ramayana through storytelling, colouring, and crafts. The Ayodhya Rama Game embedded in the book is built around numeracy, visual perception, physical coordination, and social play — skills children at this stage are actively developing. The volume closes with simple prayer shlokas that children can memorise, giving them an early and natural connection to the devotional dimension of the epic. The companion volume, for children aged seven to twelve who can read and write independently, picks up where this one leaves off.

Parents and teachers looking for a structured, curriculum-friendly way to bring the Ramayana into a child's early years will find this a thoughtful and practically designed resource.

ABOUT THE BOOK: The Ramayana: The Coloring & Craft Activity Book is the first of a series of children's activity books, to introduce children to the Ramayana through storytelling, numeracy, and arts and crafts activities. This series consists of two volumes: Ramayana - A Coloring and Craft Activity Book for young children (3-6 years) and Ramayana - An Illustrated Epic Activity Book for older children (7-12 years) who can read and write. The Ayodhya Rama Game, included in each of these books, helps children improve their numeracy, visual perception, physical fitness, and social skills. At the end of each book are simple and popular prayer slokas that children can recite to instill spirituality and develop focus in them from an early age.
