Overview
Vocabulary is the first barrier to reading in any language, and in Sanskrit the barrier is often presented as insurmountable. Priyanka Salekar's Shabd Kreeda is built on the opposite assumption: that children learn words most readily when the words are attached to visible, familiar things.
Twenty-five illustrated sections cover Sanskrit vocabulary across everyday domains — fruits, flowers, wild animals, birds, food, classroom objects, the home, the family, insects and reptiles, games, seasons, colours, clothing, and ritual objects. The illustrations carry the meaning; the Sanskrit words ride alongside them rather than floating in grammatical abstraction. Activities embedded in each section turn passive recognition into active recall. The progression moves from the immediate environment outward, giving children a Sanskrit vocabulary organised around how they actually experience the world.
