M adhu Purnima Kishwar was Professor at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) and Director Indic Studies Project. She is also a well-known writer. Her works include ' Zealous Reformers and Deadly Laws ', ' Modi Muslims and Media: Voices from Narendra Modis Gujarat ' and ' Deepening Democracy: Challenge of Governance and Globalization in India '. She has been awarded Maulana Azad National Professorship of the Indian Council for Social Science Research and was also the founder-editor of Manushi - A Journal about Women and Society.
