Overview

The second volume of Prof. Bhag Chand Chauhan's landmark work continues to excavate the scientific inheritance embedded in Bhāratīya culture — in daily customs, performing arts, and the philosophical structures of the Darshanas. Where the first volume laid the argumentative groundwork, this volume extends the evidence, showing how Saṃskṛta, music, dance, and household ritual carry within them a coherent account of nature that deserves to be read alongside, not beneath, the canon of modern science.

Chauhan synthesises textual and archaeological sources to reconstruct an honest picture of scientific inquiry in Bharatvarsha across the ages. His treatment resists both colonial dismissal and uncritical celebration; the analysis is specific, the references detailed, and the approach comparative. Scholars from archaeology, physics, and education have endorsed it as an essential resource for reversing the derecognition of India's knowledge systems.

For teachers, students, and anyone seeking a rigorous account of why India's intellectual past matters to its present, this volume stands as a sustained argument and a practical reference.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

What made ancient Bhārata innately scientific? This book brilliantly showcases—with evidence—the inbuilt connect between science, Saṃskṛta (mantras) and the life style of the Bhāratīya people. Celebrated writer, scientist, academician and author Prof. Bhag Chand Chauhan gives readers not just an overall perspective about the Bhāratīya scientific tradition and the substantial and foundational contributions of Bhārata to modern science, he also enriches readers with a holistic understanding of nature, which includes the human element, in the definition of Reality. Readers will also gain a better understanding and a genuine appreciation of the knowledge tradition and the cultural and ritual practices of Bhārata.

The History and Culture of Science in Bhārata also addresses the various common and specific queries that come up regarding major Bhāratīya contributions to science and technology.
